A Photo Pathway...

How time flies when you're having fun!!

I'm just about to leave for a 4-day trip to Ghana to visit one of my World Vision sponsor children (some of you may remember I was able to visit Mattu, my other sponsor child in Sierra Leone last year) in a little village in North-central Ghana. I am SO blessed to have the ability to go there and see him along with some dear friends from home, and one new friend!

As I worked a nearly 7-day straight stretch prior, all the stories and experiences in my head have not yet made it to the keyboard. So, until then, please enjoy a short walk through the photo pathway of the past few weeks! :)

Just happening to be in the kitchen while our Nepalese Gurkhas are cooking!!! I love them so much! They treat us like we were their own children! And they cook heavenly food.

Coco Beach- one of the only beaches for relaxing near Lome'. Nice to enjoy some sun (and a little sunburn despite the sunscreen)! (Sorry to be rubbing in our hot, sunny weather to the rest of you winter-ridden folk!)

Visiting with a very old and dear friend, Fred after attending African Church a couple Sundays ago (of which one of the sermon points of "Why we should be a mega church" was so that there would be more "beloveds" for those in the church to marry). :) The visit was complete with lots of Fan Ice (a local frozen ice cream of sorts in a little plastic bag). It's AMAZING!!

A typical taxi ride to and from the port on "beach road" with dear friends Laura, Heather, and Melinda. :)

Screening Day...

The photos you've been waiting for.

Arrival of the first batch of all the landrovers at 5:15am.

We're ready!!!

Screening took place outside of the National football (soccer) stadium.

The Togolese were all so patient and peaceful despite line after line after line that we placed them into as they went through the entire screening process.

The dynamic duo! Frances and I giggling (as we tend to do when we're together) over some issue during screening day! Gooooo Escort Team Leaders!!!

A beautifully captured moment with father and daughter in line.

Even though we could not bring physical hope and healing to every person we screened, our goal and heart was to at least infuse them with a glimpse of Jesus' love and joy.

I hope you enjoyed the little journey!

Things you can be praying for this week:

1) Off ship, a dear family, Gina and Lawrence Adeji(a Ghanaian family) have found out that Gina (mother of 2 young children) has cancer that has spread to her lungs. She had one bout of this cancer with emergency surgery when I was on the ship in Sierra Leone, and it was very frightening. The doctors have now only given Gina a short time left to live. Please pray for her healing! Gina was the LIFE of our patient life team, always smiling, always singing, always praying and bringing encouragement to our patients. Please pray for them- first, for Gina's healing! Also for wisdom, provision as they are living in London, peace, and comfort amidst this very dark time. I knew them both personally and it is so heartbreaking to think of them facing this in their God-glorifying lives.

2) General and plastic surgeries will be starting up this week! Pray for a excellent start to our 2 new specialties and all the patients we will now be reaching!

3) This trip to Ghana that I leave for in about 4 hours... who needs sleep, right? ;) Please pray for safety, God's angels of protection, and that He would go before us and prepare people, situations, and interactions for His glory. SO excited!

4) Personally, just for peace. I feel like things have been just crazy, and my time is already half over here. :( I know it will be difficult to say goodbye so soon. Also, just for overall life guidance as well. :) (I keep praying Jesus will bring Africa closer to America so my life decisions can be so much easier, but that prayer hasn't been answered yet). ;)

Thank you all so much for your love and prayers! :)
